Old Fashioned Ghoultini

Old Fashioned Ghoultini

We’re two days away from Halloween…are you ready? My kids have been looking forward to this Saturday for the past month. We’ve got the costumes, our pumpkins out front, all the candy and we are ready to roll.

Their excitement is contagious right now.

Old Fashioned Ghoultini

I love walking around our neighborhood and trick-or-treating with my kids. It’s fun to see the other kids and all the costumes. Last year, some people had the brilliant idea of walking around with beverages in hand. Because, come on, the parents need to have some fun too.

So, I’ve been spending the past few weeks recipe testing and channeling my inner mixologist because I need the perfect cocktail for Halloween. For us, three things were mandatory: ice cream needed to be involved because I have to make a mocktail version for the kids, it had to have some kind of spook factor because it’s Halloween, and it had to be cold. I’m thinking of my friends in California and other parts of the country that are experiencing crazy hot weather.

Old Fashioned Ghoultini

This Old Fashioned Ghoultini was made possible by my brand new, amazing Torrent™ Magnetic Drive Blender from KitchenAid.

Old Fashioned Ghoultini

This blender is powerful, lightning fast, and requires minimal effort. All you do is fill your pitcher with your ingredients, slide the pitcher in, select a preset program on the dial, hit the button, and watch this baby do all the work.

I make smoothies at least 3 to 4 times a week and I am still amazed at how fast and powerful this blender is. I literally have my smoothie ready in 1 minute and 5 seconds. I don’t know about your blender, but my old blender couldn’t do this in that amount of time.

And the same goes for this cocktail. You are 1 minute and 5 seconds away from this delicious Old Fashioned Ghoultini. It’s like a spiked, boozy creamsicle. And I had so much fun testing different flavors of ice cream! In the end, the orange sherbet won.

To make this cocktail, using your Torrent™ Magnetic Drive Blender, fill the pitcher with the frozen cherries.

Pour in the water, bourbon whiskey, sugar (if using) and grenadine. Top the liquid with the ice cream and slide the pitcher in.

Select the “icy drinks/smoothies” preset on the dial, hit the start button, and let the blender do all of the work.

Hosting a Halloween party this year and need a great cocktail? Well, you’ve got to try my Old Fashioned Ghoultini! And might I add: get the dry ice. Dry ice is everything for Halloween.
