Football season is here. That also means finger food season is here folks. Pizza is always tasty on game day, but sometimes you want to step it up a notch when you have guests coming over.
These Cinnamon Roll Grilled Cheese Sandwiches with Goat Cheese + Fig Jam are just the thing to serve at your next game watch or weekend brunch. They’re the perfect mashup of sweet and savory, and I know you’ll love it!
To make these grilled cheeses, first pull the goat cheese and butter out of the KitchenAid® Multi-Door Refrigerator and set out to soften. I love that this Multi-Door Refrigerator has two Soft-Close drawers for optimized storage. The left drawer features 5 preset temperatures: meat/fish, drinks, greens/herbs, deli/cheese, and thaw/marinate. For this recipe, I used the deli/cheese preset temperature.
Next, preheat the KitchenAid® Grill and Panini Press on your Gas Cooktop at medium heat.
Butter one side of each of the eight pieces of cinnamon swirl bread. Flip each piece of bread over. Spread the goat cheese on four pieces of bread and spread the fig jam on the remaining pieces of bread. Top each of the goat cheese pieces of bread with about a half of a handful of arugula.
Press together the goat cheese and fig jam so the buttered sides of the bread are exposed.
Place the sandwich on the Grill and Panini Press and cover with the lid. Grill until the bottom side is golden brown.
Be careful because the grilled cheese will cook quickly, so make sure to check it often. Once the bottom side is grilled, flip the sandwich over and put the lid back on. Grill until that side is golden brown.
Cut each sandwich in half.
To serve, stack the pieces and drizzle them with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt.
Garnish with a bunch of arugula and sliced fig or two.
You can serve these individually or for a crowd, stack them on a platter. Be prepared to make a bunch of these, they will go quickly!
