Hot Chocolate

Makes 4 servings

3 cups (720ml) filtered water
1 cup (140ml) raw unsalted cashews
1/3 cup (24g) raw cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup or 1/3 cup (55g) firmly packed chopped pitted dates (5 to 6 dates), plus more to taste
1 teaspoon natural vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt

Optional boosters

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, plus more to taste
1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes or Pinch of cayenne pepper

Place all of the ingredients (including any optional boosters) into the blender jar of the KitchenAid® Pro Line® Series Blender. Secure the lid and set the blender to the Adapti-Blend™ Soup program. Blend until the machine turns itself off. Alternatively, blend for about 5 minutes, starting on speed 1 and gradually increasing to speed 10 until hot.

Prep Notes – If throwing whole pitted dates in to show the power of the machine the amount will vary depending on the variety and size. Please instruct people to place the cacao powder in with the water and cover with the cashews so that the powder doesn’t fly up into the lid on ignition.
