Cherries are one of my favorite fruits. They’re sweet, tart and full of flavor. Because their season is so short, I make it a habit to find different ways to use them in my recipes. From pies to tarts to cakes to ice creams, cherries are as diverse an ingredient as they are delicious.
I’ve made an easy fizzy cherry lemonade drink with the help of two of my favorite appliances: the KitchenAid® Pro Line® Series 5-Speed Cordless Hand Blender and Sparkling Beverage Maker. I also used honey powder to sweeten the drink, as it removes the need for using a simple syrup, it dissolves very quickly into liquids, and you can adjust its sweetness to taste. There’s also a tiny hint of salt and pepper in this recipe, which adds spice to the drink and brings out the flavor of the cherries.
First, start by carbonating the water using the Sparkling Beverage Maker. Fill the bottle with cold water up to the level mark, which is about 8 ounces of liquid. Make sure the handle is in the upright raised position and the bottle lever is pulled forward. Then, insert the bottle by sliding it against the lever on your Sparkling Beverage Maker. The white tip should be immersed in the water in the bottle. Carbonate the liquid by pulsing the gas into the water for a few short bursts by pressing the handle down.
Do this until the desired level of carbonation is achieved. Seal the bottle airtight with the cap and place in refrigerator until ready to use.
To prepare the cherry lemonade base of the drink, place cherries, lemon juice, honey powder, himalayan sea salt, and pepper in the jar of your KitchenAid® Hand Blender.
Screw the lid on, move the button to the lock position, and blend at maximum speed (setting #5) until all the ingredients are completely blended.
Once this is done, you can choose to filter the liquid by passing it through a strainer lined with cheese cloth, or use the cherry lemonade base as is. You can also store the liquid in an airtight container in the refrigerator if you aren’t using it right away.
To make this drink, mix 1 part cherry lemonade base to 1 part soda and serve in chilled glasses.
Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired. And just like that, you have a deliciously refreshing beverage, perfect for summer!

Fizzy Bombay Cherry Lemonade
Makes 1 serving
8 ounces cold water
2 cups pitted cherries
1/4 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed
1/2 cup honey powder
1/4 teaspoon himalayan sea salt
1/4 teaspoon finely ground black pepper powder
1 tablespoon julienned fresh mint leaves
To prepare the carbonated water, fill the bottle of your KitchenAid® Sparkling Beverage Maker with cold water to the marked fill line. With the handle in the fully raised position and the bottle loading lever pulled forward, place the bottle into the carbonator. The white tip should be immersed in the water. Carbonate the water by pulling the lever down on your Sparking Beverage Maker firmly for a few seconds, doing this a couple of times until you get your desired level of carbonation. Return the handle to the fully raised position and push the bottle to release from the carbonator. Seal airtight with the lid until ready to use.
Place the pitted cherries, lemon juice, honey powder, salt and pepper in the jar of the KitchenAid® Pro Line® Series 5-Speed Cordless Hand Blender. Fix the Hand Blender to the top of the lid and set the speed to maximum (setting #5). Blend until completely smooth. If desired, you can strain the liquid through a cheese cloth to remove any solids. Chill and store liquid in an airtight container for up to a day.
To prepare the drink, serve 1 part soda and 1 part cherry lemonade base in chilled glasses. Garnish with thinly julienned mint leaves if desired.
