Citrus Margaritas

Citrus Margarita Recipe

Cinco de Mayo is my favorite holiday of the year, right after my birthday. Yes, that’s right, I consider my birthday a holiday. That’s normal, right?

Well, these margaritas are quite perfect for Cinco de Mayo or a summer birthday celebration. They are a mixture of fresh citrus juice that gets juiced in a KitchenAid® Stand Mixer with KitchenAid® Citrus Juicer Attachment along with some silver tequila and a splash of sparkling water. They are 100% considered skinny margaritas as none of the fake sugary mixers are involved.

They should pretty much make an appearance on your table immediately – so let’s make them!

Citrus Margarita Recipe

Start with a bunch of fresh citrus. For this margarita we’re using grapefruit, oranges and limes.

Using the KitchenAid® Stand Mixer with KitchenAid® Citrus Juicer Attachment, juice all of the citrus into a measuring cup.

The attachment has a built in strainer that separates all the pulp from the actual juice. It’s basically the best invention ever.

Once you have all the citrus juiced, you’ll want to get out your other ingredients.

Pour in a bit of silver tequila. Any brand will work. And add some agave nectar to give it a bit of sweetness, then give it a good shake in a cocktail mixture and get ready to enjoy.

INGREDIENTS

5 ounces silver tequila

2-3 limes (about 3 ounces)

1/2 ruby red grapefruit (about 2-3 ounces)

1 orange (about 2-3 ounces)

1/2 – 1 ounce agave nectar

Sparkling water to top

Ice

DIRECTIONS

Using a KitchenAid® Stand Mixer with KitchenAid® Citrus Juicer Attachment, juice the limes, grapefruit, and oranges to the measurements listed above.

Transfer the freshly squeezed citrus juice into a cocktail shaker and add the agave nectar and tequila along with some ice cubes. Secure the top onto the cocktail shaker and shake for 45 seconds until well mixed.

Strain the mixture into glasses filled with ice and top with a bit of sparkling water. Serve immediately.

Tip: Instead of lining the margarita glass with salt, try lining it with a mixture of sugar and salt to give it a sweet and salty finish
