Hello again! I’m adding another item to our brunch series: Mexican Iced Coffee. Since we are in the middle of summer, I know serving a pitcher of iced coffee at your brunch would make your guests very happy.
Have you ever had Mexican iced coffee? The reason I love it is that it combines chocolate with a hint of spice for a simple sweet treat. The key is not to overload the drink with too much chocolate or spice, or you’ll overpower the coffee flavor. Adding just a drizzle of chocolate and a dash of chili powder for an indulgent kick keeps this drink perfectly balanced.
Coffee brewing is a serious business in my family and the battle of what to brew was finally put to rest when we got the Nespresso® by Kitchenaid® machine. My husband loves dark and stormy roasts while I prefer a softer light roast. With 6 preprogrammed settings for brew strength selection, we can both get our desired amount of roast flavor with every cup. I used the Nespresso® by KitchenAid® machine to make these iced coffees, as the individual brewing makes it easier to serve guests their desired brew strength.
To start, fill your glasses with ice. You can either brew right in the glass or brew into another cup (and let cool) before pouring over the ice. Just make sure you drizzle in your chocolate syrup over the ice before pouring the coffee into your glass.
Select your Nespresso® pod based on your personal preference.
Brew your selected Nespresso® pods on the espresso setting. This ensures a richer coffee flavor that is then diluted with milk or cream and the ice as it melts.
Then, add your milk or cream to your coffee. Finally, add a dash of cinnamon and chili powder. Stir and enjoy immediately.
